PalmSource announced the winners of the Fall 2005 U.S. Powered Up Awards today.
These were created to celebrate innovation in the Palm OS developer community.
Selected from over 4,000 nominations submitted over a four-week period, the five Fall 2005 U.S. Powered Up Award winners were chosen by a panel of judges representing the award's sponsoring companies.
Awards were given out in five categories.
Best-In-Class
SonicAdmin 4.1 - SonicAdmin lets IT professionals securely manage computer systems and network equipment with their Palm OS handheld.
Wireless/Over-the-Air
Pocket Express - Pocket Express delivers news, weather, sports, stocks, directories, movies, maps, and more to wireless handhelds and smartphones.
Multimedia
Pocket Tunes - Pocket Tunes Deluxe plays Internet radio, WMA, and MP3 files, and supports online subscription music services.
Games/Entertainment
Enterprise/Productivity
Two applications tied for first place in this category
FieldRanger wGPS - FieldRanger wGPS simplifies dispatching, and helps manage field-based employees and work orders.
GoodAccess - Good Technology offers real-time wireless messaging and data access software.
In-House/Custom (not commercially available)
Palm Field Inventory - Developed specifically for its field sales force, Medtronic's Palm Field Inventory was designed to enable this company's field sales force to view field inventory locally on a Palm OS device.
All of the developers of these applications received prizes valued at at least $20,000.
The Fall 2005 U.S. Powered Up Awards were co-sponsored by Palm, Inc., CNET Download.com, Cingular Wireless, and PalmGear.com, a division of Motricity.
