The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has given Acer permission to release in the U.S. two new Pocket PCs which will be part of the N300 series.
Both of the N310 and N311 will offer 3.7-inch VGA screens and USB host capabilities. They will include Bluetooth 1.2, as well, but only the N311 will have WiFi.
What has really piqued many people's interest in these handhelds, though, is that they are going to be just 4.3 inches tall, 2.75 inches wide, and 0.55 inches thick ((110 mm by 70 mm by 14 mm). They will weigh only 4.75 oz (135 g). This makes them surprisingly small and light for what they offer.
Both these models will run Windows Mobile 5.0, have 64 MB of RAM, and MMC/SD slots.
The N311, though, will have a 400 MHz processor and 128 MB of ROM, while the N310 will have a 300 MHz processor and 64 MB of RAM
It is not known at this time when Acer will release the N300 series models, what they will cost, or in what countries they will be available.
More information on these Pocket PCs can be found on the FCC's web site.
Thanks to Duncan for the tip.
