BrightBytes™: Software Awards, Fossil, ZiPCAD, and More

The finalists for the Handango Champion Awards have been announced. These were created to recognize outstanding mobile software applications and developers for the Palm OS, Pocket PC, Symbian OS, Java, Windows Powered Smartphone and Linux platforms. Categories include "Best Productivity Application" and "Best Game". An independent panel of industry experts will select the winners, which will be announced July 24.

Cellularshowroom.com is offering the original Fossil Wrist PDA for $30 plus $5 shipping. This price is good for either the Palm OS or Pocket PC version. This is not the newer one, which actually runs Palm OS 4. That watch is not available yet. (Read a review of the Fossil Wrist PDA.)

123-D Software has released ZiPCAD, a CAD application for Palm OS handhelds. Drawings can be exported to any major desktop CAD system, such as AutoCAD, via the DXF file format. It sells for $150.

eCOST.com has some good deals on memory cards. Prices include a 256 MB Memory Stick Select card for $80, a Lexar 256 MB SD card for $50 after a mail-in rebate, and much more.

Medieval Heroes 1.5 is now available. This adds hi-res support to this strategy game for the Palm OS. It costs $15.
