Casio has announced in Japan that it will be releasing a new Pocket PC handheld, the E-3000. This announcement effectively squashes all the rumors that Casio is planning to stop producing Pocket PCs.

The E-3000 will use a 400 MHz XScale processor and have 64 MB of RAM. It will have 32 MB of ROM. It will include both an SD/MMC slot and a CompactFlash Type II one. Its 16-bit color, 3.5 inch, TFT screen will be the Pocket PC standard 240 by 320 pixels.

It comes with a 1500 mAh removable battery that, according to Sharp, can power it for 15 hours. An optional 3000 mAh battery will offer twice the battery life.

All this will go into a casing that is 5.3 by 3.0 by .7 inches. It will weigh 6.7 ounces.

t will be available in Japan in March. There is no word on when, or even if, the E-3000 will be available in other countries.
