Cingular hasn't even officially announced the Treo 650, but a developer has already released a patch that allows this device to use dial-up networking (DUN).
A lucky few Cingular customers have already been able to gets their hands on palmOne's latest smartphone, although the official announcement isn't expected until Wednesday.
These people report that Cingular has disabled Bluetooth DUN on this device. Therefore, the Cingular version of the Treo 650 will lack the ability to act as a wireless modem for other devices, like laptops.
However, a resourceful developer who calls himself shadowmite has found a way to re-enable this feature, and has posted it on his web site free of charge.
This same developer released a patch that brings DUN to the Sprint version of this smartphone. He's also the one who released a Treo 650 version of palmOne's Wi-Fi SD card driver.
