Dell today announced two new Bluetooth accessories designed for its Axim X30. They are the Dell GPS Navigation System and the Dell Executive Keyboard.
The Dell GPS navigation system offers voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions and graphic instructions. Featuring NAVTEQ maps of North America, the Dell GPS navigation system includes one-way streets, turn restrictions, and speed limits as well as convenient points of interest such as area ATMs, gas stations, parking facilities, and restaurants.
Because they both have built-in Bluetooth, the X30 and the GPS receiver don't have to connected together with wires. Instead, they only have to be near each other in order to be able to work together.
A Brighthand review of this GPS receiver will be available in the coming days.
The Dell GPS Navigation System is priced at $249.
The Dell Axim Executive Keyboard is a full-size QWERTY keyboard and is appropriate for serious use of text-based applications such as taking notes or answering e-mail while connected to a Wi-Fi network.
When not in use, the portable keyboard folds into a compact package about the size of a passport wallet. It also comes with a detachable stand to hold the Axim X30. This stand, along with Bluetooth, allows the X30 to be used in either landscape or portrait orientation.
This is a re-branded version of Think Outside's Stowaway Universal Bluetooth Keyboard (read Brighthand's review).
The Dell Axim Executive Keyboard is priced at $99.
Both of these peripherals are expected to be available in the near future, but they have not yet appeared on Dell's web site.
Update: A Dell spokesperson reports that there have been problems getting these posted on her company's web site, but they can be ordered by phone: 1-866-600-6218.
