The FCC has granted Toshiba permission to release a pair of new Pocket PC handhelds: the e750 and e755. These appear to be updated versions of the company's e740.

As often happens with FCC announcements, all the details on these two models aren't clear yet. One of the two certainly has built-in 802.11b (Wi-Fi) wireless networking, but which one that is isn't known. Also, the FCC filing includes a separate manual for using Bluetooth, but the full manual says nothing about Bluetooth. Its possible that one will include Bluetooth and the other Wi-Fi.

The e750 and e755 will use the new Intel XScale PXA255 at 400 MHz. These chips have a 200 MHz system bus, as opposed to the 100 MHz one on current PXA250 processors, which should increase the performance of the chip. They come with 64 MB of RAM and 32 MB of Flash ROM.

In size and appearance, these models are almost the same as the e740. They are 4.9 by 3.1 by .6 inches and weigh 6.3 ounces.

Also like the e740, they have dual CompactFlash and SD/MMC slots. It is not known yet if they offer SDIO but the e740 does so it seems likely these will, too.

Both use a 3.8 inch, transflective screen. They have a removable 1050 mAh Li-ion battery and will come with a set of headphones.

It is not yet known when the e750 and e755 will be available or what they will cost.

Update

DataVision is now taking pre-orders for the e755 for a price of $595.

Thanks to PocketPCTools for the tip.
