Bill Gates to Speak at Mobile DevCon

Microsoft has officially announced that Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates will deliver the opening keynote at its next Mobile Developer Conference.

Microsoft Mobile DevCon 2004 is this year's premier developer event for building and bringing to market mobile applications, content, and services for the Windows Mobile and Windows platforms.

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates Mr. Gates will speak about Microsoft's new mobile technologies and long-term development strategies for mobile applications and devices.

It's possible that the first details about Windows Mobile 2004 will be released at this conference. Microsoft offered the first glimpes of Windows Mobile 2003 at this same conference last year. The next version of this operating system is expected to debut in late spring or early summer.

Microsoft believes this is a must attend event for developers seeking knowledge about the latest platform advances for mobile technologies, including Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs and Smartphones, .NET Compact Framework, SQL Server CE, ASP.NET, and MapPoint Location Server and other mobile technologies.

A company spokesperson pointed out, "This is the first time that the Mobility Developer Conference is co-located with VSLive! and AVIOS~SpeechTEK, which underscores the commitment Microsoft is making to empower desktop developers to 'go mobile' and embrace an exploding market opportunity."

Another speaker will be Don Box, an architect for XML messaging at Microsoft, who will discuss .NET development of applications for mobile devices and mobile scenarios.

Microsoft Mobile DevCon 2004 will be held in San Francisco on March 23 through 27. Registrations are being taken now. More information is available on the official web site.

The conference is $1095 to those who register before February 11, and $1295 thereafter.
