HP Introduces iPAQ h1935 in U.S.

Hewlett-Packard has quietly introduced the iPAQ h1935 in the U.S., a lower-cost model in its h1900 series of Pocket PCs. A version of this is already available in parts of Europe.

The h1935 uses the Professional Edition of Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC. It has a Samsung S3C2410 processor running at 203 MHz. It includes 64 MB of RAM, but only 56 MB of this is available to the user. It also has 16 MB of Flash ROM.

This handheld has a 3.5-inch transflective screen. It is not yet known if this is the same screen as on the h1940, though that seems likely. This screen has drawn some criticism from users for having a yellow tint.

The latest iPAQ has an SD/MMC slot that supports SDIO. It is 4.46" long, 2.75" wide, 0.50" thick (113.3mm by 69.8mm by 12.8mm), and weighs 4.37 ounces (124 g). It includes a 900 mA Lithium ion swappable battery.

The h1935 is available now from HPshopping, Hewlett-Packard's official web store. It costs $250. However, the company is offering a $50 mail-in rebate on this model.

The h1935 has the same form-factor as the recently-released h1940, but this new model has a slower processor, and it lacks the h1940's 14 MB File Store and Bluetooth. Of course, the h1935 is $100 cheaper, after the rebate.

This is just the latest in an impressive list of New Handhelds introduced by HP this summer. It has released five new iPAQs since June 23.
