Although HP's first ROM update for the iPaq hx4700 series fixed many bugs, some users of these Pocket PCs quickly noticed a problem: the time their extended batteries would last on a single charge was greatly reduced.
This happens because ROM 1.10 contains an incorrect battery capacity value, causing the device to think its battery is empty when it is not.
HP has released a software update that permanently fixes this problem.
It is important to read and follow the instructions exactly when installing this, or any, ROM update.
Naturally, ROM 1.10 must be installed on the handheld before installing this update to it. More information on the hx4700 series ROM update, can be found in this article.
