Lexar Announces 4 GB CompactFlash Card

Lexar Media has announced that it will release in a few month the largest CompactFlash memory card yet, with a whopping 4 GB Storage capacity. It has also created a 2 GB one which will be available much sooner.

Lexar 4 GB CF In addition to their large capacities, these cards are capable of a minimum sustained read and write speed of 4.8 MB per second. On top of that, both cards are also equipped with Write Acceleration technology (WA), which further increases write speed performance in cameras that support WA.

The 2 GB CF card will be Type I and expected to retail in March for $700. The 4 GB card will be Type II and is expected to ship in the second quarter for $1,500.

Faster SD Cards

Lexar Media has also announced 256 MB and 512 MB Secure Digital (SD) cards that offer very fast data transfer speeds. These cards are capable of a minimum sustained write speed of 4.8 MB per second. It is not yet known when these will be available.
