More Details Leaked on Next-Generation Treo

Several pictures and some additional details of palmOne's next smartphone have been leaked to TreoCentral.

Supposedly, Treo 650 will be quite similar to the current Treo in size and shape, but will nevertheless have a number of significant changes.

According to TreoCentral's source, the Treo 650 will have a 320-by-320-pixel display, which is four times the resolution of the one used in the present Treo model.

Treo 650 The next Treo will reportedly include Bluetooth short-range wireless networking, which the Treo 600 lacks. This will allow it to use wireless headsets and wirelessly HotSync.

The new model's built-in camera will be upgraded. It will be a 1.3 megapixel camera capable of taking both still images and video.

Unlike its predecessor, the Treo 650's battery will supposedly be swappable.

Not all the news about this rumored model is good. TreoCentral's source reports that, aside from headphones, the Treo 650 won't be able to use any accessories designed for the current model.

A Look Inside

This source didn't say what the processor speed of this device would be, but previous rumors have said that it will use a 312 MHz processor.

The Treo 650 is expected to run Palm OS Garnet 5.4 and have the same amount of RAM as its predecessor, 32 MB.

Like the Treo 600, the upcoming model will have an SD slot. In addition, the new model will reportedly be able to use some of the SDIO peripherals now on the market.

Both GSM/GPRS and CDMA versions of this smartphone are expected to debut sometime this fall.
