NetFront Browser for Pocket PC Released

Access has released a version of its NetFront 3.0 web browser for Pocket PC and Pocket PC 2002 devices.

It supports a long list of Web standards, including HTTP, HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0, cHTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM, SSL, and cookies. It can display up five different windows and can zoom in on a page to make reading small text easier. It can also open helper apps, like Windows Media Player, Pocket Word, Pocket Excel and others.

For an additional charge, Access also offers a Java plug-in, JV-Lite2 Personal Edition for Pocket PC. This allows NetFront to run Java applets.

Some may question the need to buy a web browser when their handheld comes with Pocket Internet Explorer. Unlike Pocket IE, NetFront supports multiple browser windows, zooming, saving images, XHTML, and many other features.

NetFront 3.0 for Pocket PC is available now for $24.80. The version with the Java plug-in is $29.80.

NetFront 3.0 is the browser that comes standard with the Sony NX series.
