Rumors have been circulating for a while about Research In Motion's next-generation handheld.
According to an anonymous source, this device -- called the BlackBerry 8700 -- will debut on Cingular Wireless' network on October 28.
The source also says that this handheld will be exclusively available from this carrier for a time, although how long is not known.
Also unknown at this point is what Cingular will charge for it.
A fairly complete description of this upcoming handheld has already leaked out.
The 8700 will supposedly have 16 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Flash memory for additional storage. However, unlike virtually every other handheld and smartphone, it won't have a memory card slot.
Its design will be reminiscent of previous BlackBerries, but will have an updated look and a thinner shape.
Clearly it will use GSM/GPRS networks, but it's not yet known if it will support EDGE. It will certainly have Bluetooth.
