Palm Inc. announced its new fall handhelds today, the Palm TX and Palm Z22.
In previous years, these devices would have been part of this company's Tungsten and Zire sub-brands.
However, the TX and Z22 are not, as Palm has decided to end its use of "Tungsten" and "Zire."
As Palm recently acquired undisputed rights to the brand name "Palm," the company decided to phase out some of its sub-brands.
This doesn't mean that all of Palm's sub-brands are being phased out. It will continue to use the "Treo" sub-brand for its smartphones and "LifeDrive" for its Mobile managers.
From now on, though, all its standard handhelds will simply bear the "Palm" brand.
