Orange Leaks Info on Two Upcoming Smart Phones

This week, the French wireless carrier Orange posted information on its web site about two smart phones that are supposed to be available later this year, the P810 and the SPV2.

Sony Ericsson P810

Rumors have been circulating for some time now about Sony Ericsson's plans for a successor to its P800, which runs the Symbian OS. Orange has posted a brief overview of this this device on its web site. According to this, the P810 will have a 208-by-320 pixel screen capable of displaying 16-bit color. It will be a tri-band GSM/GPRS device and have integrated Bluetooth. It will have an built-in camera capable of taking video.

The P810 will be 4.5 by 2.25 by .9 inches (11.5 x 5.7 x 2.3 cm) and 5.6 ounces (158 g). Orange says it will offer 13 hours of use or 400 hours of standby time. This device is expected to be available from Orange on October 1.

SPV2

Orange also posted some information about an upcoming device running Microsoft's Smartphone OS. Though it will be called the SPV2, it isn't the second model in the SPV line; it's actually the third. The second model is the SPV E100, released earlier this year.

According to Orange, the SPV2 will be similar to the previous models, with a few improvements, like integrated Bluetooth. Though Smartphone 2003 is expected soon, the SPV2 will still use Smartphone 2002. It will have a 16-bit color screen that is 220 by 176 pixels. All devices running this operating system have a joystick for user input, not a touch screen

Orange originally said this smart phone would be available September 1. However, it later told infoSync this was incorrect and removed the page about the SPV2 from its site. A company spokesperson also said some of the details that had been on that page were incorrect.
