PalmSource has just announced that GSPDA, Inventec Appliances, and Portable Innovation Technology Limited (PiTech) have licensed the Palm OS so they can become ODM partners. As such, the three companies will provide Palm OS original equipment manufacturer (OEM) licensees with a one-stop solution for bringing Palm Powered handhelds and smartphones to market.

"As a PalmSource ODM partner, Inventec Appliances Corp. is now in a position to assist Palm OS OEM licensees with their product design and development efforts," said Joyce Chang, vice president at Inventec Appliances Corp.

The PalmSource ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) program offers partners access to the Palm OS Product Development Kit (PDK), allowing the research, design, and development of Palm Powered devices running either Palm OS Cobalt or Palm OS Garnet.

"We believe our ODM partners offer Palm OS licensees the necessary tools, resources, and expertise to drive further innovation in the mobile device market, stimulating growth throughout the Palm Powered Economy," said David Nagel, president and CEO of PalmSource.
