Palm Reader Renamed eReader

Palm Reader has been renamed eReader, and a new web site has been launched for it.

This popular ebook reader began life as Peanut Reader. In 2001 it was bought by Palm, Inc. and renamed Palm Reader and the company became Palm Digital Media. However, the reader remained a cross-platform application with versions for Palm OS, Pocket PC, and desktop operating systems.

Last year, Palm Digital Media was sold to PowerByHand, which also owns PalmGear and PocketGear.

The newly launched eReader web site will still have Palm Digital Media's existing relationships with more than 75 publishers, including industry leaders HarperCollins, Penguin Group (USA), Random House, St. Martin's Press, Simon & Schuster, and Time Warner Book Group. This allows it to offer over 10,000 ebook titles.

eReader web site is currently offering 10% off their next purchase to anyone who fills out a survey on the new site.

There is also a new version of the ebook reader. eReader 2.5.0 offers larger icons in the toolbar, along with other small changes.
