It has been rumored for some time that Fujitsu-Siemens is preparing a Pocket PC with a VGA screen. Today, some additional details emerged about this model.
According to First Loox.org, the Pocket Loox 700 will be the first model from Fujitsu-Siemens to have a 640-by-480-pixel display, although several other companies will have Pocket PCs with this screen resolution on the market before this one is available.
The exact size of the 700's display is not yet known. It is expected to be either 3.7 or 3.8 inches.
This Pocket PC will reportedly use a 520 MHz Intel XScale processor. It will have plenty of other high-end features as well, including 128 MB of RAM and 64 MB of ROM. Of course it will use Windows Mobile Second Edition.
The Pocket Loox 700 will supposedly also sport both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networking, as well as a CompactFlash slot and an SD/MMC slot that supports SDIO.
It will include a 1.3 megapixel camera with a flash.
The information given to FirstLoox.org indicates that this model is scheduled for release in August.
Not everything is known about this model yet. Its size remains a mystery, as well as its price.
Update: Pictures of the Pocket Loox 700 have been found on the Fujitsu-Siemens photo server. These show that this model will be quite similar to ASUS' upcoming model, the MyPal A730, which has a similar feature set.
Several months ago, Fujitsu-Siemens had a Pocket PC with a clamshell design on its roadmap of upcoming products. However, it is not known if this is a second model planned for later this year, or if this model has been dropped completely.
