Pretec Electronics Corp. has announced that it will release seven new SDIO cards later this year.
This includes cards for WLAN (802.11b), Bluetooth, GPS, a 56 kbps modem, two cameras (VGA and 1.3 megapixel), and a barcode scanner.
Details on these are sketchy at this point but the company does say they will be for both Pocket PC and Palm OS models.
Pricing will range from $79 to $199. Five of these cards will be available for purchase by the end of June, while the VGA camera will be only available for OEM customers and the barcode scanner mainly for vertical applications and industrial customers.
Two of these cards will use Pretec's Whanto technology. This allows a single card to use four different interfacing modules: Compact Flash, SD, Memory Stick, and USB. Pretec's GPS and barcode scanner cards will ship with the SD Interfacing module, but they can be switched to one of the other slot types simply by changing to another optional interfacing module, allowing a single card to be used with different devices.
