Motorola and AT&T Wireless only began offering the MPx200 in October and there are already rumors starting to circulate about its replacement. This model, the MPx220, is expected to be similar to its predecessor, but with some significant improvements.
According to Gizmodo, the MPx220 will run Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphones. The MPx200 runs Smartphone 2002.
The MPx220 is also expected to have Bluetooth wireless networking and a digital camera. These are features frequently found in smart phones but aren't in the MPx200.
There is also a rumor being reported by Gizmodo that the MPx220 will support EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution). AT&T Wireless announced last month that it was rolling out EDGE service over its GSM/GPRS wireless network. This will increase data transfer speeds to between 100 kbps to 130 kbps.
The MPx220 is expected to be released in two or three months.
