Last spring, Samsung unveiled the SGH-i300, a smartphone with a 3 GB microdrive. Today, it announced an updated version with an additional 1 GB of storage.

Despite today's official announcement, it isn't clear exactly what operating system the i300x will run. Its predecessor used Windows Mobile 2003 SE for Smartphone, and Samsung hasn't said if this new model will be bumped up to the latest version.

In addition to its 4 GB microdrive, this smartphone will include a QVGA screen and a microSD slot.

Samsung SGH-i300x With all its built-in storage, Samsung is emphasizing this device's ability to store a large number of music files in a wide variety of formats.

The i300x will also include a 1.3 megapixel camera capable to taking 1280-by-1024-pixel images.

It will be 4.5 inches tall, 1.9 inches wide, and 0.8 inches thick (11.3 cm by 4.8 cm by 2.0 cm).

At this point, it is not known when the SGH-i300x will be available.
