A spokesperson has confirmed that Steve Sakoman no longer works for PalmSource. He was the chief products officer and was in charge of the team who was developing the next version of the company's operating system.

Mr. Sakoman joined PalmSource in November of 2001 when the company aquired Be Inc. He is credited with keeping together the team of developers from Be who are helping to develop Palm OS 6.

Though it doesn't say so explicitly, a statement from PalmSource implies that Mr. Sakoman left the company voluntarily.

The statement says, in full:

Steve Sakoman has the respect of everyone at PalmSource. We are sorry that he has decided to pursue new opportunities and we wish him good luck. PalmSource consists of a very talented integrated team, we look forward to continuing to work together and we're confident of our prospects and our future.
