Ecer Technologies Develops TiltCONTROL Motion Sensor

Ecer Technologies has developed the TiltCONTROL peripheral for handheld devices. This attaches to the synchronization port of supported devices and allows the user to control applications and games by tilting the handheld up and down, or from left to right. The TiltCONTROL contains a miniature accelerometer that measures the angle and passes that information to applications on the handheld.

The TiltCONTROL device is currently available for the iPAQ 2200/3800/3900/4100/4300/5400/5500 series, with future versions expected to support M Series devices from Palm, as well as the Tungsten and Zire handhelds with the Universal Connector, Casio devices, and the Nokia N-Gage.

It is priced at $49, and for a limited time the Control-Emul8r application is also included with the purchase. Normally costing $20, Control-Emul8r allows the user to emulate stylus movements and button presses in order to control the handheld device with the TiltCONTROL.

Ecer isn't the only company exploring this concept. Innoventions Inc is working on the RotoView, which is quite similar to the TiltCONTROL.
