Toshiba is going to announce a new Pocket PC model in March that will cost just below $200, according to DigiTimes. Quoting unnamed sources, site goes on to say that the e350 will have a 300MHz Intel XScale processor and 64MB of RAM. It will include a semi-transmissive TFT LCD screen.
If this information is correct, the e350 will undercut the cost of the Dell AXIM X5 Entry, which is now selling for $250. This model was selling for $200 with a $50 rebate but Dell stopped offering the rebate last month.
Currently, Toshiba's least expensive model is the e330, which costs $350. It also has a 300 MHz XScale processor and 64 MB of RAM. It is not yet known how these two models will be different.
The e350 will be manufactured by Compal Electronics, which also makes the company's other Pocket PC models.
CeBIT, the worlds largest computer tradeshow, happens in March so it is almost certain that several handheld companies will announce new models that month.
