Verizon Wireless has cut by 25 percent the monthly price it charges for unlimited access to its EV-DO wireless networking service.

EV-DO service (Evolution-Data Optimized) is the fastest cellular-wireless networking service available in the U.S. It offers typical download speeds of 400-700 kilobits per second (kbps).

Verizon's service, called BroadbandAccess, now costs $59.99 a month, as long as the user also has a voice plan with the company. The previous monthly cost was $79.99.

Update: This price applies only for computers accessing Verizon's EV-DO service through a PC card. Handheld access is less expensive, at $49.99 per month.

The wireless service provider currently offers two Pocket PCs that support EV-DO, the Audiovox XV6600 and the Samsung SCH-i730.

In addition, Verizon has expand its EV-DO network to seven new cities today.

Samsung i730 It now includes the major metropolitan areas and airports in Baton Rouge, LA; Charlotte and Raleigh Durham, NC; Denver; Louisville, KY; and San Francisco and Sacramento, CA.

Verizon's EV-DO service is already available is 61 cities across the U.S.
