ViewSonic is going to add a new handheld to its line of Pocket PCs. The V36 will run the just-announced Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and include an integrated digital camera.

The V36 uses an Intel XScale processor at 300 MHz processor and includes 64 MB of RAM, of which 36.45 is accessible to the user. It has 32 MB of ROM.

This will be the first non-wireless handheld running Pocket PC to have an built-in camera. This .3 mega-pixel digital camera will be able to take color pictures at up to 640 by 480 pixels.

One of the best features of ViewSonic's current Pocket PC, the V35, is its screen. The V36 will use the same 3.5 inch transflective display. Unlike its predecessor, however, it will have a removable Lithium-ion battery.

It will also sport a SDIO-compatible SD slot, which means it can be used not just for memory cards but other peripherals. To take advantage of this, ViewSonic is going to offer an SDIO card that will allow this handheld to connect to Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless networks. This card will cost $129.

The V36 will have the same general form-factor as the company's current V35. It will be about a half an inch thick and just 4.8 ounces.

ViewSonic says the V36 will be available in August for $329.
