Virtual Laser Keyboard Available at the End of this Month

iBIZ Technology Corp. says its Virtual Laser Keyboard will begin shipping in a few weeks.

The VKB will attach to handhelds and project the image of a full-size keyboard onto the surface of the desk where the handheld is placed, allowing the user to input text without a physical keyboard.

"There are no mechanical moving parts whatsoever in the Virtual Laser Keyboard," said Ken Schilling, President and CEO of iBIZ. "It provides a projected image that is the perfect portable input device for PDAs. It's similar in responsiveness to regular keyboards, but extremely futuristic looking."

The company had hoped to have this device on the market now, but after the amount of interest the VKB received at CES in January, iBIZ decided to move production to a larger facility.

iBIZ says the Virtual Laser Keyboard will be compatible with Palm, Pocket PCs, laptops and desktop PCs. It can be used with palmOne models with the Universal Connector, recent Sony models, and recent iPAQs.

iBIZ is taking pre-orders for it now on its web store. The price is $99.99. It will be available from major retailers later this year.

"Factory representatives have presented us with shipping details that should have mass production units available by the end of March," Schilling said. "Initial production units will be shipped in white boxes in an effort to satisfy the substantial back log of Internet orders. The initial retail packaged orders will be fulfilled shortly following this initial production, until full production is met, likely within sixty days."

A version for cell phones is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
