palmOne Opens Online Ebook Store

The palmOne eBook Store is now open for business. Electronic books are being provided by PowerByHand's eReader.com, the world's largest and most popular electronic bookstore.

Visitors to the new ebook store can choose from more than 12,000 popular ebook titles in more than 40 categories, including bestsellers and new releases.

The Open eBook Forum (OeBF) recently reported that ebooks are the fastest-growing segment of the publishing industry. In just the last 18 months, sales of ebooks have increased by 46 percent, to a total of 422,000 ebooks sold.

This new ebook store can be found on the palmOne web site.

All the ebooks on palmOne's store can only be read with eReader, which used to be known as Palm Reader. There is a free version of this application, and a $9.95 version offers additional features.
