palmOne has announced the appointment of Andrew J. Brown as the company's new chief financial officer. He will be responsible for finance and accounting, investor relations, corporate development, and information technology.

Mr. Brown, 45, is the former CFO at Legato Systems, a storage-solutions provider that was acquired by EMC Corporation in 2003. At Legato, he was part of a new management team that rebuilt the company.

Prior to Legato, he was the vice president and chief financial officer at Adaptec, where he helped drive company performance during periods of rapid growth.

He replaces Judy Bruner, who left this spring to join SanDisk as executive vice president of administration and chief financial officer. Philippe Morali, who held much of Bruner's former role in the interim, will resume his former responsibilities.
