According to some leaked information, T-Mobile USA will release an updated version of the Sidekick later this month. It appears there may be some truth to this rumor, as some blurry pictures of this device have appeared on the Web.
The Sidekick 3 will apparently resemble its predecessors' shape, including a color screen that pivots aside to reveal a miniature keyboard.
However, there will supposedly be a joystick added to the right of the keyboard, in addition to the D-pad on the left side.
It appears that this cellular-wireless handheld might also be the first of this line to include a removable battery.
Going Forward
According to the previous leaked information, there will be another new Sidekick coming out later this year with support for Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA).
UMA provides access to GSM and GPRS mobile services over unlicensed spectrum technologies, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Naturally, this would require the future Sidekick to have Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
Supposedly, this model will also include support for playing audio files.
During summer of 2007, T-Mobile also hopes to put out the first Sidekick with support for video playback.
