For the past day or so, a rumor has been circulating on numerous handheld-related web sites that Palm has ended production of its LifeDrive Mobile Manager, this company's first device with a built-in hard drive.

According to a clear-cut statement from a high-level Palm executive, there is no truth to this rumor.

According to Marlene Somsak, Vice President, Corporate Communications,  "Palm continues to manufacture LifeDrive Mobile Managers."

More About the Palm LifeDrive

Palm's first Mobile Manager runs Palm OS Garnet on a 416 MHz XScale processor.

Its most notable feature is its built-in 4 GB hard drive.

In addition, this device has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 1.1 wireless networking.  It also sports a 320-by-480-pixel display and an SD card slot.

More information is available on Palm's web site.
