Most Popular PDAs and Smartphones of August 2006

Welcome to the monthly listing of the most popular handhelds and smartphones on Brighthand. This report is compiled based on the number of views each product page receives, so every time someone clicks on a product they're giving it a vote in these monthly rankings.

These ranking don't necessarily indicate which models are the best selling, just which ones Brighthand readers are most interesting in learning more about.

The most interesting development this month was the arrival of several new Series 60 smartphones from Nokia on the list, pushing off some old favorites, like the Treo 650.

1. HP iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger (Previously #1) - This model greatly resembles one already being offered by HP, the hw6500, but offers some features not included in the hw6500, like Wi-Fi and the latest version of Windows Mobile. 2. Sony VAIO UX Micro PC (Previously #3) - The new Sony VAIO UX Micro PC is a full Windows XP computer not much bigger than a typical handheld. It's fairly expensive, but it packs a great many features into a small package, like a keyboard and numerous wireless networking options. 3. Motorola Q (Previously #2) - Its maker claims that the Motorola Q is "the world's thinnest, lightest QWERTY phone". It has a tablet design, with a 320-by-240-pixel screen above a backlit keyboard. 4. Palm TX (Previously #4) - Palm's TX is appealing for its integrated Wi-Fi and easy to digest price point. The TX is easy to use and offers a large and crisp display. Palm TX Reviews \| Palm TX User Opinions
5. Palm Treo 700p (Previously #7) - The latest smartphone from Palm, Inc. has a great deal in common with the Treo 650. Both have the same general shape and both run the Palm OS. 6. Nokia N93 (New) - As it sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom, this Series 60 smartphone is heavily focused on multimedia. 7. Dell Axim X51v (Previously #6) - Dell's latest -- and greatest -- Pocket PC not only offers the newest version of Windows Mobile, it also has a VGA screen, a fast processor, lots of storage, two types of wireless networking, and much, much more. 8. Nokia E61 (New) - In shape, the Nokia E61 resembles a Treo or BlackBerry, and its designers worked hard to make it as thin as possible. 10. T-Mobile Sidekick 3 (Previously #5) - With its strong focus on consumer friendliness, the Sidekick line has developed a devoted following.
