Palm, Inc. announced in July that that Europe's Vodafone would be the first carrier to offer its newest Windows Mobile smartphone, and the date this is going to happen is drawing close.
The official announcement of this device won't be until September 12, but Vodafone is already taking pre-orders for the Treo 750v.
This carrier's web store is very light on details on this model, essentially just repeating the vague description that given when this device was announced a couple of months ago. There's not even a picture of the whole device, just a closeup of its keyboard.
There is one significant piece of new information, though: a price. Vodafone UK is asking 127.66 pounds for the 750v. That's approximately $240.
Those who wish to put in a pre-order can do so on Vodafone's web site.
Unconfirmed Information
Palm and Vodafone aren't saying much about the Treo 750v, but rumors, leaks, and other unconfirmed sources give some additional details on this smartphone.
According to some pictures that have appeared on the Web, this device will greatly resemble previous smartphones from Palm, but, unlike its predecessors, not need an external antenna.
This device will almost certainly include Bluetooth but not Wi-Fi.
It is also supposed to have a 1.3 megapixel camera and a miniSD card slot.
It seems Vodafone won't be the only company offering this model for very long. Information that leaked out of Cingular indicates that this carrier will begin offering the Treo 750 in October.
