System Software Update Released for Dell Axim X50 Series

Dell has posted on its support web site a system software update for Axim X50 series models that have been updated to Windows Mobile 5.0.

This series is made up of three Pocket PCs that originally came with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. In 2005, Dell began offering an operating system upgrade to bring these handhelds the latest version of Windows Mobile.

According to Dell, the A02 ROM makes the following changes:

• Wireless roaming function addition
• Improve CF memory card intermittent disappear problem
• CompactFlash interface driver improvement for memory and modem cards.
• Microphone recording enhancement .
• ActiveSync connection improvement

There are different versions of this ROM update for the three Axim X50 series models: 416 MHz, 520 MHz, and 624 MHz/VGA.

Naturally, this update is only for X50 series devices that have been updated to Windows Mobile 5.0.
