Treo 750 Coming to Cingular Wireless Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Cingular Wireless will begin offering Palm, Inc.'s newest Windows Mobile smartphone, the Treo 750.

This smartphone debuted a few months ago from Vodafone in several European countries, but tomorrow will be the first time it is available in the United States.

It will cost $400 with two-year service agreement, after a $100 mail-in rebate.

The Treo 750 will be available from Cingular's web site and its retail stores. Palm's web site will be another option.

More About the Palm Treo 750

This model is the first Windows Mobile-based Treo to use the GSM cellular-wireless standard.

The 750 greatly resembles previous smartphones from Palm, but, unlike its predecessors, does not need an external antenna. It has a tablet design, with a 240-by-240-pixel touchscreen above an alphanumeric keyboard.

It runs Window Mobile 5.2 for Pocket PC on a 300 MHz processor from Samsung. This device has 64 MB of RAM and 128 MB of ROM, about 60 MB of which is available to uses as non-volatile internal storage. A miniSD card slot provides additional storage capacity.

This quad-band GSM phone also supports GPRS, EDGE, and UMTS.  Palm hasn't yet made an official announcement of this, but the word on the street is that a software upgrade will add HSDPA support.

In addition, it includes Bluetooth 1.2, and give users the ability to use wireless stereo headsets.

This Treo has a 1.3 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom. It is able to take both still images and video.
