Last week, a comment from a high-level Dell executive made headlines on some mobile-related web sites, including Brighthand.
In it, the head of gaming for Dell worldwide, Abizar Vakharia, said that the idea of his company creating a gaming oriented handheld device was "on the radar screen".
Today, the company released a followup statement:
Dell is constantly evaluating new technologies, however we have no plans to launch a gaming handheld at this time.
Don't Read Too Much Into it
Essentially, what Dell's follow-up statement is saying is that while this company is considering releasing a gaming oriented handheld, that shouldn't be taken as proof that it is going to do so any time soon.
Realistically, any company that makes handhelds, smartphones, UMPCs, or laptops is considering releasing a gaming oriented mobile device. But the vast majority of them will not.
