Nokia plans to launch this summer a gaming-oriented smartphone, according to an unconfirmed report in the Wall Street Journal.
If this rumor is true, it be this company's third attempt at such a device since 2003. Neither of the original two were very successful.
Expanding the Line
After Nokia's first gaming-oriented smartphones sold well below expectations, it announced that it use N-Gage technology to make a wide variety of smartphones better at playing games.
Although Nokia has said that two of its upcoming models will support its gaming service, these will not be specifically designed for playing games.
According to the WSJ rumor, the mysterious smartphone coming this summer will be more designed around gaming, as it will include buttons for this specific purpose.
At this point, no additional details are available on this model. Still, like Nokia's previous N-Gage models, the future one is likely to be based on the Symbian OS with the S60 user interface.
