Resco Neeews! Review

With those advertisements you would have seen some emphasis on going online and doing things online such as shopping, searching, and getting directions. The one thing that has not been pushed has been reading news.

Part of that is because many news web sites do not render well using the Blazer web browser. But, the other reason for that is that RSS, while the a great match for mobile devices, is a pain to setup and use.

Resco Neeews aims to change that with its billing as being the online RSS news reader that works without needing a technical degree to setup and use.

What is RSS?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a way of displaying links to news articles. It is used by many online publications, including Brighthand.

There is no charge for subscribing to any site's RSS feed.

How Well Does It Work?

Obviously, Resco Neeews! is a product of Resco, who makes some popular software for Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices. Unlike its other programs, Resco Neeews! is not designed for the person who is looking to eek a little more power and performance out of their mobile device, but looking to be more productive with a simple and easy to use program.

Leveraging the ability for Palm OS devices to get online, along with the concept of RSS being a "newspaper," Neeews! looks to help users who want news to get it simply and with as little pain as possible.

You insert a web site address via the Add Feed wizard and then it is added to your "newspaper" for easy reading. Updating can happen at timed intervals and feeds can be stored on the memory card.

The program is somewhat chunky, but for the level of functionality it fits just right for nearly any device.
