Palm, Inc. has opened its first Research & Development and Operations Center in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Shanghai-based center will work to accelerate the delivery of next-generation smartphones to wireless carriers and customers worldwide. It will also ensure that support for local languages are included in Palm's products;
In addition, the center will facilitate close collaboration between Palm and its manufacturing partners, all of which are located in Asia.
"Palm has a legacy of innovation, and we are confident that the team members of our newly announced China Center will play an integral role in the development of new, innovative Palm mobile-computing products," said Mike Farese, Palm senior vice president, engineering.
This company has had a similar R&D center in Ireland since 2005.
