TabletKiosk has announced that it is entering the rugged UMPC market with the eo TufTab v7112XT.
The TufTab line is for professionals who require more rugged and secure solutions for their mobile computing needs, including protection from rain, dust, humidity, extreme temperatures, and vibration. They also are a good solution for those users who are abusive to their mobile companions.
eo TufTab v7112XT Overview
The TufTab v7112XT is TabletKiosk's first rugged UMPC design and it will be available in either black or white.
As a rugged device, it is IP53 compliant for resistance to water and dust, and also is able to withstand shocks, drops up to 75 cm, and vibration.
It will run on a VIA C7-M ULV 1.2GHz processor, and will offer consumers a choice of operating systems: Microsoft Windows Vista Business, Windows XP Tablet Edition, or SUSE Linux
This model will include 1 GB of DDR2 SDRAM and a 40 GB, 1.8-inch IDE Ultra DMA PATA hard drive.
Like other UMPCs, the v7112XT will have a 7-inch LCD touchscreen, which TabletKiosk promises is viewable in sunlight. It will also have a video-out port and support for dual screens.
It will sport Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, a 10/100 Mbps Full Duplex 32-bit Ethernet port, and a USB 2.0 port.
This PC will also include slots for a Type II PC Card and SD/SDIO/MMC cards.
In addition, it have a biometric fingerprint reader

The eo TufTab v7112XT won't be shipping until April, but is available now for pre-order with prices starting at $1,700.
