Best Look So Far at the HTC Kaiser

Pocket PC phones with slide-up screens are fairly common these days, but HTC has a model coming up that takes this concept in a new direction.

According to information that has leaked out of this company, the Kaiser will, at first glance, look like many other cellular-wireless Pocket PCs. It will have a tablet shape with a QWERTY keyboard hidden below the 2.8-inch, QVGA screen.

But unlike similar models, such as the Cingular 8525, when the screen is slid aside to expose the keyboard, it will flip up at an angle, making the device look something like a mini laptop. This goal of this is apparently to make the Kaiser's display easier to see when the handheld is sitting on a desk.

On the Inside

Internally, probably the most interesting feature of the Kaiser will be Windows Mobile 6 Professional, which should make this one of the first models running the latest version of this operating system.

Aside from this, though, this model will have a great deal in common with other recent Pocket PC phones from HTC.

It will have a 400 MHz processor, 64 MB of RAM, and 256 MB of ROM, a percentage of which will be available to the user as internal storage. It will also include a microSD slot.

The Kaiser will be a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE, as well as UMTS and HSDPA 3G networking. It will also sport Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0.

In addition, this Pocket PC will have a 2.8 megapixel camera and a 1500 mAh battery.

The HTC Kaiser is expected to debut in June of this year.
