Spb Software House has released a Windows Mobile Smartphone version of Spb Mobile DVD - a Windows application that provides a simple way to convert DVDs and video files to a format playable on a mobile device.
It allows users to convert both DVD discs and video files, while picking zoom and crop modes for best viewing at any screen resolution. Users can also change the bit-rate for smartphones with slower processors.
Preview Before Converting
Due to file size and bit-rate limitations it's impossible to directly copy a video file from a PC or laptop to a Smartphone. Video files must be converted and compressed to a smaller size, but the smaller the file size, the poorer the video quality. It's up to user to find a compromise between the file size and video quality.
To simplify this process, Spb Mobile DVD offers a true real-time preview feature, which allows users to see the mobile version of the movie looks like even before the conversion starts.
Requirements and Purchasing
This software runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista.
A free 15-day trial, or the full version of Spb Mobile DVD ($24.95), are available from the Spb Software House web site.
A version of this application for Pocket PC users has been available for some time.
