T-Mobile Launches the Wing Pocket PC Phone

T-Mobile USA is now offering the Wing, a Pocket PC phone with a touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and a blue soft-touch exterior.

This is the first new device brought to market in the U.S. to be powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Naturally, it includes the suite of applications that is bundled with this operating system for smartphones and handhelds, which includes support for Microsoft's push email system, a version of Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Office Mobile.

"The HTC-designed T-Mobile Wing is a versatile, user-friendly smartphone that will appeal to a wide range of consumers," said Todd Achilles, vice president of HTC America. "The T-Mobile Wing is 30 percent smaller than its predecessor, the T-Mobile MDA, and is packed with broad functionality that enables users to experience the best in connectivity, productivity and mobility."

The Wing is a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE. It doesn't offer 3G cellular-wireless networking, but then neither does T-Mobile USA. This smartphone does, however, include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

It also includes a 2.8 inch QVGA display, 2.0 megapixel camera, and microSD card slot.

This model is 4.3 inches tall, 2.3 inches wide, and 0.7 inches thick. It weighs 6.0 ounces.

The T-Mobile Wing is available now at this carrier's retail stores and its web site. It sells for $300 with a two-year contract.
