Sprint Treo 700p users will have to wait even longer for a much-needed update to their system software. An update for this smartphone was released on Monday, but has since been removed from Palm's web site.
In a note on the company's official blog, Paul Loeffler, the company's manager of public relations, said, "We have received isolated reports of an installation issue that causes the device to continuously reset when applying the software update, so we've removed the update from our site."
Loeffler can not say when this update will will be available again.
He urges anyone who has experienced problems after installing the 700p update to contact Palm, either through its web site or by calling 866-750-7256.

What About Other Carriers?
The version of the Treo 700p update that was briefly available is only for Sprint customers. Palm had originally hoped to get a Verizon version of this update out at the same time as the Sprint one, but has run into delays.
In the post on Palm's blog, Loeffler said, "We don't have a target date for when we can make the Treo 700p MR [maintenance release] available for Verizon Wireless users."
He went on to say "We currently don't have plans to issue a MR for other carriers because the ROM software already contains many of the features that are included in the Sprint and Verizon Wireless updates (e.g. many of the Bluetooth improvements and MP3 playback)."
