AT&T has stopped offering the Nokia E62, a Symbian/S60 smartphone that seems to have been developed only for this carrier.
It was a slightly downgraded version of the Nokia E61. Unlike its sister model, the E62 lacked Wi-Fi and 3G support.
What's Waiting in the Wings?
AT&T has discontinued the Nokia E62 without announcing what will replace it.
This carrier is still offering the Nokia N75 -- another Symbian/S60 smartphone -- but this is targeted at consumers, while the E62 was created primarily for business users. And there's nothing that requires the carrier to pick another model running the same operating system or made by the same company.
Not surprisingly, AT&T isn't willing to give any hints.
“We will be offering several new and compelling devices in the coming months that will succeed the E62 in our B2B device portfolio,” a company spokesperson told RCR Wireless News. “We don’t pre-announce specific devices/manufacturers we will be offering prior to publicly launching them.”
