Responding to earlier complaints from its customers of there being no more firmware updates, Sony Ericsson has announced that a firmware update will come to the owners of the P990i and W950i smartphones near the end of this summer.

A post in the Sony Ericsson Developers Forum says:
In response to recent feedback from users and as a result of additional internal testing, Sony Ericsson has determined to offer a further firmware update for the P990 and W950 Walkman phone. This move illustrates Sony Ericsson's ongoing commitment to its existing 'smartphone' customers and the company's desire to be responsive to customer feedback in order to provide an optimal user experience..
Users of these two mobile devices can expect to download the update through the Sony Ericsson Update Service sometime in August.
The P990i and W950i run the Symbian OS with the UIQ user interface. The P990i is in the process of being replaced by the Sony Ericsson P1.
