Brighthand reported earlier this week that some -- but not all -- Verizon Wireless retail outlets were administering a long-awaited system software update for the Palm Treo 700p. This is officially available now to everyone as a download on Palm's web site.
It offers a long list of improvements to this smartphone, especially in the area of Bluetooth networking. In addition, Palm has added SDHC support to this model, allowing it to use much higher capacity memory cards.

The Treo 700p Update for Verizon Wireless devices is available now from the Palm Support web site. This update includes a Windows Installer version, in addition to the SD card update method.
It is advised to follow the installation instructions as they are noted on the Palm Support page for minimal problems during installation.
What About Sprint Users?
Sprint Treo 700p users should not install this update, as it is only for the Verizon version of this smartphone.. The version for Sprint's 700p can be found on Palm's web site.
