Fujitsu Showing Off World's Smallest UMPC

Fujitsu's first ever Ultra Mobile PC has been the focus of much discussion since it was announced earlier this year, especially as its manufacturer is claiming it's the world's smallest UMPC.

The LifeBook U1010 isn't available in most countries yet, but Fujitsu has posted a Flash video of this model in action on its web site. This heavily emphasizes its ability to operate in both tablet and laptop modes, as the screen can be rotated around and closed over the keyboard.

More About the Fujitsu LifeBook U1010

The thing that catches people's attention first about the U1010 is its size: 6.7 inches wide, 5.2 inches deep, and about 1.25 inches thick.

It includes a 5.6-inch WSVGA (1024-by-600-pixel) touchscreen and, as mentioned earlier, a full keyboard.

There are versions of it running Windows XP or Vista, and it has an Intel 800 MHz processor and 1GB RAM.

The LifeBook U1010 also has a 40 GB hard drive, and SD and CompactFlash slots.

It has Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, and an Ethernet port, while a Fingerprint sensor and 0.3 megapixel camera round out the specifications.

Prices are expected to be around $1,200 when the LifeBook U1010 hits the U.S. market later this year.
