HTC Kaiser Launching as TyTN II

Wireless carriers in Europe will soon begin offering the HTC TyTN II, a new high-end Windows Mobile phone.The unlocked version of this device is also available for pre-order in the United States.

The TyTN II is probably more familiar to many by it's code-name: the HTC Kaiser. It offers 3G wireless networking, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a flip-up screen above its built-in keyboard.

It will be introduced in the nxt few months by the European carriers Orange, T-Mobile, Telefonica Group and Vodafone, as well as being sold directly by HTC itself.

In the U.S., the online retailer Mobile Planet has begun taking pre-orders for the TyTN II at an $800 price point.

In addition, according to unconfirmed reports, a version of the Kaiser will be launched this fall as the AT&T Tilt.

More About the HTC TyTN II/Kaiser

The HTV TyTN II will, at first glance, look a great deal like many of its predecessors. It will have a tablet shape with a QWERTY keyboard hidden below the 2.8-inch, QVGA screen.

But unlike earlier models from HTC, when the screen is slid aside to expose the keyboard, it will flip up at an angle, making the device look something like a mini laptop.

Another advantage the Kaiser will have over its predecessor is an updated operating system: Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

It will use a 400 MHz processor, and have 128 MB of RAM and 256 MB of ROM, a percentage of which will be available to the user as internal storage. It will also include a microSD slot.

It will be a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE, as well as UMTS and HSDPA 3G networking. This Pocket PC will also sport Wi-Fi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and USB 2.0.

In addition, the TyTN II will have a 3 megapixel camera, a GPS receiver, and a 1500 mAh battery.
